Thai Lottery Predictions 1st August 2011

I was reading an interesting story in the Pattaya Mail the other day about Thai lottery punters using the numbers on the side of Thai warships for Thai lottery predictions. As you are probably aware warship from all nations have an identification number(hull/pennant number) on the side of them.

Well a little research later I found  the following hull/pennant numbers for the Royal Thai Navy. The list is a bit long so you can view them on this link, List of Equipment in Royal Thai Navy on Wikipedia.

I see that HTMS Narathiwat has a hull number of 512. Now 512 has not come out of the lottery draw as a three digit number yet  BUT the last draw produced a two digit winner of 12 and a three digit number of 052. While the draw on the 1st July had a two digit winner of 51!

Several ships use 46* now there is not a ship allocated to 463 a three digit number which has appeared in the winners list two times in the last few months but I wonder how about taking a look at 461 or 462 both of which are allocated to warships?

BTW it is also HM the Queen of Thailand’s birthday on the 12th August. So something with these digits in it will I am sure be popular in the next draw.

Perhaps closer scrutiny of the hull numbers of the Thai Navy ships and a Royal birthday might find you a winning combination for the next Thai Lottery draw on 1st August 2011.

Whatever, good luck.

Thai Lottery Predictions 1st July 2011

Given that there is a general election in Thailand on Sunday 3rd July I have decided to base my Thai lottery predictions for 1st July 2011 around the event. Let me explain why.

When political parties register for the election in Thailand each party draws a number from a lottery type machine containing coloured balls that are drawn by the party leader.  Each ball is in two half’s which when unscrewed by the party leader reveal a number.  This number starting at 1 and progressing upwards(depending on the number of parties submitting to registration) in this case 30 is then used to identify candidates and their party on posters and ballot papers.

This year the outgoing government(Democrats) have drawn number 10 and the main opposition force, the Pheu Thai Party(Red Shirts) have drawn number 1 which incidentally is considered to be a lucky number in Thailand.

Now if you don’t believe me about the significance of the numbers to Thais here’s what some of the participants told to the Nation newspaper, in an editorial called “Parties go Nuts About Numbers”:

The Pheu Thai Party won a psychological victory as it drew number one and will be in the top spot on the ballot paper.

The Chart Thai Pattana Party needed a long explanation to make number 21 sound good. The party’s chief advisor Banharn Silapa-archa said the number 21 was a lucky number for the party. According to a Chinese philosophical text the number one means ‘Yin’ while two means ‘Yang’. “When Yin and Yang come together it is very powerful,” he said.

The Bhum Jai Thai Party’s explanation for number 16 was linked with the day of the lottery. Thailand holds lottery draws every first and 16th day of the month.

“For people at the grassroots, 16 is a lucky number since it is the day they have the chance to win the lottery,” said party spokesman Supachai Jaisamut. “If you vote for number 16, you don’t need to wait for the lottery result on the day of the 16th anymore.”

Make of it what you will but perhaps 01, 10, 21 and 16 are worth considering. I guess that predicting the Thai lottery results for the 1st July will be just as hard as predicting the outcome of the general election.

Good luck whatever you choose.

Thai Lottery Predictions 16th June 2011

My Thai lottery predictions for 16th June 2011 are firmly based in astrology and superstition given that in the early hours of that date there is a lunar eclipse visible in Thailand. Dubbed a red moon eclipse because of the colour the moon will appear to be during the event it seems to me that choosing lucky numbers for the forthcoming draw should relate to the eclipse.

So how to choose some?  Well the eclipse will be at its maximum effect at 2.22 am, so surely 222 is worth a punt for a three figure number? Other significant three figure numbers are 122 and 400 which relate to the start and finish time of the phenomenon. It starts at 1.22 am and finishes at 4.00 am. I would also choose 22 as a double digit selection given that it appears twice in the significant times.

As for a full number, well I have to be honest here I struggle! But I am going with 400122 or 400222 not very scientific but the best I can offer.

Whatever, good luck in the draw ;-)

Thai Lottery Predictions 1st June 2011

My Thai Lottery Predictions for 1st June 2011 has proved difficult to find this month. I have even resorted to listening to my Tokay gecko calling although to be honest he has been fairly quiet lately and I have only heard him twice and each time he called 5 times, so I wonder is 55 a good choice of number for a two digit punt?

In fact numbers have featured a fair bit for me this month mostly in amounts of money I have had to pay out, there was 2167 Baht for my annual car tax, another 2450 Baht for a letter from my embassy in Bangkok and a 3008 Baht electricity bill. Now I’m not suggesting these are lucky but I figure you have to start somewhere ;-)

Mind you I just got a letter from Tesco with my rebate for shopping at the local supermarket and that’s for a whopping 330 Baht which is at least income so you might say lucky?

Anyway I have disregarded all these numbers in favour of something linked to my favourite sport.  Since I am a football fan I have decided that I am going to find a lottery ticket number ending in 31.  Why 31? Well 3-1 is the score by which my favourite team Nottingham Forest lost in the Championship play-off’s and the same score by which Manchester United lost in the European Cup final.  Both unlucky for the English clubs but not for the Welsh and Spanish.

That’s it then my Thai lottery predictions for 1st June 2011 duly delivered……..good luck in the draw.

Thai Lottery Predictions 16th May 2011

Yellow Headed Temple Turtles ThailandMy Thai lottery predictions for 16th May 2011, the second draw in the month of May are again going to be based on Thai history and Culture. Well to be more exact on Buddhism, the Buddha and Buddhism in Thailand.

So why choose something related to Buddhism and the Buddha?

Well the day after the lottery draw is Visakha Puja Day an important Buddhist holy day. A day on which the Buddha is said to have been born, recieved enlightenment and also died at the age of 80 in what is modern day India.

Visakha Puja is celebrated in different ways at Buddhist temples throughout the world.  One way is releasing life, by letting small creatures go, like the temple turtles in the photograph.  There are also processions and sermons by monks as people make merit at their local temple.

Given that many Thai people will also attend their temple at other times to try and get lucky lottery numbers I decided to base my predictions on the number of turtles I could see in the bucket in the photograph and the Buddhist calendar.

So I will be going with 10 as my two digit number to which I will add a 3, representing the three events celebrated on Visakha Puja day,  to create a three digit number, something like 103 or 301 take my fancy. Six digits? How about 103543 or 543301? I got these by including the number of years difference between the Christian and Buddhist calendar(543) in my prediction.

But how about you, how many turtles can you see, maybe there are more than ten?

Do you have any Thai lottery predictions for 16th May 2011 that you are willing to share with us?

Whatever,  good luck in the draw ;-)

Thai Lottery Predictions 2nd May 2011

Thai Lottery TicketThe next draw for the Thai Lottery is 2nd May 2011. Making predictions for any lottery is difficult. Unfortunately I do not have a sure fired winning formulae for Thai lottery predictions but tend to choose my ticket based on events that are in the news at the time of the draw or even the rumours circulating in the neighbourhood. Not very scientific is it.

Anyway here are some events that are taking place around the time of the next lottery draw. The 2nd May 2011 is the day of the full moon and a Buddhist holiday called Vesākha Day it is also a national holiday as International Labour Day falls on a Sunday. While on the 5th May Thais celebrate the anniversary the King of Thailand’s coronation day which was in 1949. The week after on the 13th May is the date of the Royal Ploughing Ceremony in Bangkok which celebrates the start of the new growing season with the arrival of the rains.

Now who knows perhaps in all those dates and numbers there is a lucky number for the next Thai lottery draw.

Me,  I would go with a ticket ending in 1949 or 194 or 949 for a three digit choice and 19 or 49 for two digits. But what do I know?

If you have any  Thai lottery predictions for 2nd May 2011 please share them with us.

Fortune Telling Monk

Finding Buddhist monks acting as fortune tellers is not at all unusual in Thailand. Now I don’t normally bother with fortune tellers but when my Thai friend said she was going to visit a fortune telling monk at a nearby temple that I hadn’t been too I figured I would tag along and if nothing else get some photographs of the temple and maybe some lucky numbers for the Thai lottery.

Anyway first things first, why did my friend suddenly want to visit a fortune teller? Well it transpires that her older sister has been subjected to a burglary at the family home  where a lot of money was stolen. The trip to the fortune teller was in fact on her sisters behalf to see what her future fortune might be. Sad as the loss was for her sister I couldn’t figure out quite why we were going to see a fortune telling monk now. A bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted in my opinion. Anyway I kept my thoughts to myself and headed off to the temple.

When we arrived there was a queue to see the fortune teller who I could see was seated in the door to his kuti(monks room). When our turn came I went and sat near the monk and my friend to watch and listen to the proceedings.  After supplying her sisters birth date, the monk, who was somewhat senior in years even to me, proceeded to make some calculations on a sheet of paper and consult what looked like a sort of almanac.

My Thai is not brilliant but I got the gist of what was being said, it was quite funny at times since the old boy had a keen sense of humour. I had to suppress a smile when he announced this was not a good year for my friends sister and that she might have some more misfortune. However he then went on to say that she had suffered a loss last year (her father died) and that things would be much better if she visited the police since the criminal was living near to home.

Thinking we had finished (since my friend had given a donation to the monk) I was about to get up when he suddenly turned his attention to me and asked for my date of birth in Thai. I understood him but pretended otherwise, since I had no desire to know my future, unfortunately my friend then told him, despite her promise that she would not ask him to tell my fortune. More chuckles from the monk, who incidentally was chewing a mouthful of betel nut, so every time he chuckled I got a view of a foaming red toothless mouth.

After a few calculations he announced that I was either a policeman or soldier-now that did grab my attention since I have been both during my working life in the UK.

A Lucky guess?  I don’t know, but he then asked to look at my hand which I meekly offered despite my better judgement. Another chuckle, a red toothless grin and he said something to my friend I didn’t understand. But I heard the Thai word for five. Oh my God, five days, five months, five years? Was he looking at my life line? Or perhaps after all it was a lucky number, 5 I decided must be worth noting. Consultation over I shuffled off to take some photographs around the temple, contemplating my fate.

Travelling home my friend was somewhat quiet but I decided to broach the subject of what the monk had said when he looked at my hand.  “I not say anything,” she offered, which I know means I am not happy but I am going to tell you anyway. “OK fine, have it your way,” a response honed to get her talking for sure. “OK I tell you, me not happy.”

“OK why aren’t you happy?”

A short pause then I get “Monk say you have five lady, you handsome man.” Thinking on my feet, relieved he had not forecast my demise, I offered, “well that’s easy to explain, “there is you, your niece, my Mum and my two daughters.” “Five ladies!”

By the way the police did catch the burglar, who was a cousin of my friend and lived very close to her sisters home so perhaps the fortune telling monk was not too far wrong.  He was certainly right about me anyway but that’s my secret. As for the Thai lottery well I decided to leave that alone, at least for that week anyway and keep a low profile.

Lucky Number Sticks and the Thai Lottery

Lucky Number SticksThai people look for lucky numbers in lots of unusual place.  In most Thai temples you will find a pot containing numbered sticks. I call them lucky number sticks because people often use them to predict the Thai Lottery results.

If you look at the photograph on this article you will see a red pot contains sticks with numbers on.  Participants will shake the container and eject one stick, which is actually quite hard to do.  After looking at the number they then collect a numbered sheet from a board nearby and read their fortune  or simply use the number in the next Thai lottery draw. Usually they also make a small donations in a handily placed box too.

So next time you are in a Thai temple try the lucky number sticks to help you predict the Thai Lottery.
